The view from our back porch in January

. Posted by Picasa
Yesterday on my JIM'S LITTLE BLOG (link), Seeker asked me what Texas looks like in in January. My pictures there were summer and spring ones.
.
So here is a look at our part from Southeast Texas. Personally, I think they are a little boring. Maybe they need captions.
..
You can see our back yard grass is fairly brown. Grass in Houston and Galveston is still green but we get more frost up here to the north, fifty miles or so.
.
The golf course fairway is green, the roughs turn brown in the winter.
.
I go for what President Regan once said, "Vote with your feet [i.e. move south]."

Our January view from the driveway, out front

.
Adi wasn't too pleased, she likes her profile view better.
.
That is a vacant double lot across the street, our pear trees lost all their leaves, Adi's fire hydrant behind the bush got painted, and the holly tree still has it's berries. The holly tree stays green all year round.

Our January side view from the porch

.
Adi is a little hurt. The neighbors have a pool on the other side of those bushes. She likes to nose around over there.
.
BTW, Adi has never gone swimming!
.
Those neighbors might be in Colorado skiing. We sure don't have any snow here. Mrs. Jim said I couldn't spend $800 on a pretty nice snow making machine. Oh well.

Our January side view at dusk

.
This was taken from the balcony above the porch. The picture is prettier when you click on it.
.
Adi likes sleeping on the balcony better than looking at winter sunsets.

Just for grins, we do have a little freezing rain once in a blue moon

And this is the year for it. My Mustang had to stay outside back then and wouldn't you know, the weather came. I generally don't even take it when the streets are wet.
.
Well, it didn't go on the streets that day, but it sure was a mess!
.
For sure Adi didn't want to ride when it's like this. My shoes are a giveaway that I wouldn't be driving anyplace very soon either.

In case you got to this picture via a search, the preceding pictures all at this blog, http://jimmiehov6.blogspot.com/, for today, January 29.

These are the trees Karen helped plant today for Arbor Day (Houston, Texas). Somebody had to get very muddy doing all this!

The BP people could get out of the rain. She didn't say if there were refreshments in there.

Of course, "I" am.

Did you happen to notice Adi out there in the grass?

She's waiting for "I" to show up.

An Isaiah 40:31 collaboration of JEL's winter scene, my Adi shot, and Terry's composition.

Go here to see a corny little blog I did last August with Adi acting out Isaiah 40:31.
