Parting is so sad (leave me your comments)

Dear Blogging Friends,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

and please don't cry. This is my line:

I will be scarce until the end part of January unless we can find a cheap Internet Cafe on the QM2 or in Grenada. It is getting cool here so we had to go. We did get new bathing suits last Sunday.

So check for me every now and once in a while on my
Jim's Little Blog or Jim's (other Little Place) where I might could put up a word or two once in a while. This is my final goodbye for now.

Hope this soothes you somewhat (someone asked, so for sure you don't cry),

Dr. Jim

And Adi?

Adi can.

Adi can get her suitcase packed!

She doesn't like flying so Karen and Billy have her. Mitch and Carmen are keeping Katrin. Thank you kids!

Stardust, the song (lyrics) (link)

Singer: Frank Sinatra (

.
Writer(s): hoagy carmichael

Verse:

And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky the little stars climb
Always reminding me that were apart
You wander down the lane and far away
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust
Of yesterday
The music
Of the years
Gone by

Chorus:

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely nights
Dreaming of a song.
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you.
When our love was new, and each kiss an inspiration.
But that was long ago, and now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song.
Beside the garden wall, when stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
Of paradise where roses grew.
Though I dream in vain, in my heart you will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of loves refrain.

One Single Impression: A Winter's Day

A Winter's Day

an old friend came my way to chat
remembering that winter day
no ice she said the road was fine
up from the coast she made her way

after we ate the fireplace called
it rained through lunch we did not care
the fire so warm the rain still fell
the cold outside would freeze your ear

we moved the couch beside the fire
the two of us and Toto dogs
old memories you'd love to hear
we talked and sipped and stirred the logs

there was no way we couldn't guess
before dark came I heard the sleet
and from the eave above the glass
hung sticks of ice enough to eat

my friend had stayed too long she knew
with much regret she had to leave
don't go I plead it's bad out there
a nicer end we'll surely see

those good old times we'd just revived
a winter's day won't end in cold
our old time warmth was here anew
that night though cold was warmed from old

Obituary with picture courtesy of the Conroe Courier

We lost a dear friend here in our Bentwater, Texas, Subdivision. Buddy Burns died this Sunday morning at his desk reviewing for his sermon he was to preach later at the Church of the North Shore of Montgomery, Texas.

I have been knowing Buddy personally for about two years through the Bentwater Tuesday Morning Bible Study which he led. Buddy was a good friend to all here and we hit if off good. I knew of him when he came and had been knowing his son before he came. I did not attend the church he led but did attend a Christmas Eve service once.

Buddy seemed to love teaching almost as much as he loved preaching. He was always on the go teaching a Bible class here and then one there. He also did some seminary class teaching.

If there was anything peculiar with him it was his story telling. He always had a real life experience from his pastoring and counseling to match the situation under discussion.

His joke telling was a little peculiar for some. He was so pure that often he did not know the real down to earth meaning of the joke he was telling. The base meaning would embarrass him when he found out. Most times someone would take him aside and ask, "Preacher, do you know what _______[key base word to his joke] means?" He would say, "Well, not really." Then he would be told.

I was also fortunate in getting to know his daughter-in-law and grandson who went with us to Guatemala on our October mission trip. They are fine examples of Christians. I found after we had met that they read my blog from time to time.

SkyWatch Friday (my twenty-first) -- A couple more "out the car window pictures"

On the way home from grocery shopping, I took several 'out the window' pictures. This one came out best, at times like these I always am wishing for a better camera.

I had been to our local Ford dealer for a 2009 calendar. He found me a pretty nice one, it has the 2009 line of Ford cars. Some years they have antiques. I will try another dealer a half hour north of here. Theirs always come in late.

I focused on the cars and not the sky for this just so that those who wanted to see the red Plymouth might. I should have stopped there in the used car pre-owned sales lot and taken a closer one but I was hurrying along that evening.

It was a good thing I did hurry or I would have missed the sunset from the bridge picture.

FAQ:
Q -- Do you have a YouTube?
A -- Yes, Jim1Jim1. It has very sporadic posting with 19 Videos

Q -- Will you create a new blog this year?
A -- No plans at the present time. In fact I spend too much time blogging and would like to slow down and get better quality posts.

Q -- Then will you discontinue one of these three blogs?
A -- Right now, No. Later I may consolidate JIM'S LITTLE BLOG and JIM'S LITTLE PHOTO AND POEM PLACE. They seem to overlap.

Q -- But you have different readership on each blog, I don't want to leave the one I like and am accustomed to.
A -- That is the major problem with consolidation.

Q -- What would you like to do about consolidation?
A -- I have thought about moving everything to JIM'S LITTLE BLOG. Then it would lack organization so I think I am stuck the way I am.

Q -- You don't seem to read my blog very much anymore. Why?
A -- If you don't leave comments on my blogs I won't pester you (very much).

Q -- Can I ask more questions?
A -- Yes, just leave them in a comment. Request for me to remove the comment after reading and it will soon be gone.

Q -- What if I don't like to even show my comment, thought, or idea for even a short time until you read it. Don't you have an e-mail address?
A#1 -- Yes, I have several e-mail addresses. My blogging address is jhovendic[at]yahoo[dot]com.
A#2 -- I also have one moderated comment page (click here) taking private comments. It was intended for anonymous questions to Ask Dr. Jim (blog) but you also could use it to remain anonymous.
