Stress ~~ Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Little Pony

old Mustang is dear
going on thirteen candles
one-fifty no more

her spirit still high
faster than that she would go
one-fifty's too fast

we stop at one-ten
metal fatigue--kill us both
stress her no I'll not

To read and see Jim and his Mustang's guided picture tour of Cut and Shoot, Texas, click here. The 1998 Mustang GT convertible has 88,000 miles of which 39,000 Jim put on since he got it used in 2001. It was Jim's retirement present from himself.
Yes, it still will go over 150 mph but he doesn't take it over 120 now because of the silent killer, metal fatigue is likely to be present. (We used to magniflux our stock car racing cars after race for metal fatigue.)

One Single Impression: Monument

Fall from grace

they stood tall and proud
monuments to once known gods
center of worship
now grown old and decaying
no one knows and no one cares

One Single Impression: Joie de vivre [Joy of living]

happy little joey skipped and sang
freely waltzing down the street
sing the tune your father wrote
sing of the apples in the trees
sing of the pickers in the grove

joey's glad it isn't him who climbs
climbs the ladders to the trees
climbs the ladder of success and
escape. escape from the orchards where
both his father and the pickers are enslaved

joey danced on down his way
success is his to keep
though his father wants success and escape
success he has escape he wants
joey has both success and escape
joey is free from apples and the trees

Joie de vivre [Joy of living]
thanks to his father's succes

The sign by the roadside orchard says, "piquer c'est voler," meaning 'bite is stealing.' The red 'dot' in the picture has an apple inside an international circle with a diagonal 'no' line. This all is to say, 'do not eat apples from the trees, it is stealing.'

Picture was taken on Île d'Orléans, QC, Canada (link with map), just north of Quebec City, on the St. Lawrence River.

Seated above, left to right, is my BIL Jim W, sister Lois, and Mrs. Jim. All of us have Texas Chicken Fried Steak except for Mrs. Jim. She has fried catfish, hush puppies, and coleslaw. We all had the self-service salad bar too. .

One Single Impression: The Passing

.

The smile

we passed on the street
started with a little flirt
sweet gentle smile
I will always remember
my poor heart went pit-a-pat

Belong(-ing) ~~ Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Château Vaudreuil, near Montreal, Canada

Belonging

belonging pay dues
so what does it get me—line
on piece of paper

Château Vaudreuil, near Montreal, Qc, Canada, is not a club where membership can be obtained. Rather it is a wonderful resort where Mrs. Jim and I stayed for three nights last week. They do many weddings and do sell hospitality packages. Château-Vaudreuil. com

Microfiction has been moved to my other blog, Jim's Little Blog

We should have gotten old Poseidon's blessings. Afraid it's too late now.

Call his cell?

Ten minutes, huh? Fine. Thank you. Goodbye.

Sailors prayed to Poseidon for a safe voyage, sometimes drowning horses as a sacrifice (Wikipedia).

Check over at Susan's blog, Stony River, for more microfiction Monday! They should read quickly because our requirement is 140 characters or less.
You might like to try this. It's fast, easy, and fun.

One Single Impression: Choices

Youthful Choices

my Johnny Boy please use your head
don't go too far away from home
head for the gold at rainbow's end
not a good choice alone unknown

I'm Johnny Boy I've made my pick
not left or right which one to choose
I'll take the cloud where angel sits
all seem the same nothing to loose

first love is sweet ne'er to forget
it mattered not soon went their way
our Johnny Boy had no regret
for sixty years savored one day

. . .

found this of love that Johnny had
though you travel from home so far
making your choices good or bad
savor the rose your way is hard

Acrostic: Shame

S H A M E

Shame on you boy
Haste maketh waste guy
Always check twice laddie
Mistakes are taboo fellow
Erasures not permitted son

Written for Acrostics Only September, 2010, prompt 11, Shame
(Requirement: emotions and feelings--four words per line)

Notes:
The dog was at our Levanto, Italy hotel (Jim's Italy links)
The four word requirement was hard for syllabic count control. This poem starts at four syllables in the first line and each succeeding line increases in count by one.
