Cupid's Arrow Gotten, a Poem

My heart isn't mine anymore
Was stolen by Cupid's arrow

Clean through her arrow pierced my heart
Defeat, surrendered with no fight

On paper I drew my heart's plight
Happy heart now belongs to her

I've carried that picture always
Years and years my love forever

Dear Daddy ~~ a Postcard Poem project

Dear Daddy, wish you were here!
. We are at the Coney Island Beach
today. I hope you would have been
proud of me last week in Ohio.
I was with 99 other women at the
Republican National Convention  . . . . . . . . . . The Rev Greer Thompkins
 . There was a demonstration for . . . . . . . . . . 611 Spoonbill Road
women, what women stand for, . . . . . . . . . . . Snodville Lakeview, IA
to show we aren't the bimbos that
Trump calls us. We were naked,
Daddy, 100 of us at the convention.
. You will read about it, Huffington.
Google it Daddy, there you'll find that our "photography project was a peaceful protest against the hateful, anti-woman rhetoric present in the Republican Party."
. Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Daddy, I Love You.

Circus Life ~~ a Poem for the Tuesday Platfom

My Young Life; it was a Circus

Whiled away a day and a half
There in Podunk, Mississippi
I happened upon, magic lure
The circus was in town big time

Big time for the big top right there
Right there in that little town.  Clowns!
I always dreamed of meeting one
Now here in Podunk six bold ones

They took me in, a meal then some
I watched their rehearsal, was sold
I would grow up to be a clown
A big nosed clown make people laugh

I could juggle, I showed my stuff
And ride a unicycle too
Can you come with us, we need you
I went that day, performed that night

The crowd laughed and clapped, this young lass
He stole the show that night but then.
The other clowns they cried.  Jealous.
Poisoned me.  Now I'm side show help

Lollipop Pole; and it's Fairy ~~ a Ditty Poem for 'Until Later'

Lollipop Pole;
and it's Fairy

Totem Pole's far cousin is lurking near
Fueled by her fairy, waiting to lure you
Boys and girls beware, her danger is near
She's kind, will leave candy and coin for you

But her pole contains the magic power
Pick its fruit, good to the taste, sweet morsels
Bad as Adam's apple, this demon girl
She's bidding for queen, Queen of Boys and Girls

Lollipops are her weapons.  Innocent?
No, not this fairy nor her fruit come free
Their price is tooth decay, the dentist's joy
Tooth Fairy is on our dentists' payrolls

Beware of her lure, the Lollipop Pole

Notes:
1. Searching the Totem Pole animal list (link) did not yield the Tooth Fairy.  But it did include the imaginary animal, the Unicorn
Unicorn
Purity, innocence, dreamer, personal power, gentle, spiritual vision, other realms, faith, healing.
2. Why is the Tooth Fairy not on this list? A creation of dentists, they may also have invented these delightful fairy creatures knowing that they would bring in more $$$$ than their blood sucking leeches could ever (my belief).

Playing Catch Up ~~ a Nice Day ditty/poem

Today I'm laying low, catch up
Playing catch up, bills and phone calls
Grabbed a buy-one get-one coupon
Late lunch with my friend*, mine was free

A grandkid was over tonight
My friend* and she, they baked a cake
No candles in the house, made do
Daughter came, Happy Birthday song

Champagne and cake our supper made
Swam with kid, shower and P.J's
No poem tonight, a ditty here
Play catch up with my Facebook friends

Eating challenge poem - In the Market for Poems

To market she

To the market she would go
Mostly for the samples
She was a poor thing, stooped
Lunch on the go they said

Saving her pennies scarce
The merchants knew her well
Showing, giving their wares
Fruit from all the nations

 One day she didn't show
Then the next and the next
Where's their freeloader friend
Would she not soon return

Collected money they
Went to her door they knocked
Jailed they said, shoplifting
Sad, to the jail they went

Jailer said, poor thing stooped
Her words to them,  "When I
was poor you fed me well
Visit now, God bless you." **

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

The Painter and the Model ~~ a Words Count poem

May I paint you with the ring in your nose
Could I lead you around in my garden
Might I feel your pain when they pull your chain

My chain is light and my pull will be gentle

We can stop in the garden house, repose
For you a daisy bouquet I will bring

I so want to feel your pain

Dragons Around ~~ a Sunday "Mini-Challenge Poem"

.
This isn't an old haunt that burned last weekend.
I was only there once, it was with my Dad.
(More of my 2007 blog post)

Dragons Around**

Should we all remember those days?
Those hot days of "Burn, Baby, Burn"
They accomplished so very much
Hit them where it hurts, deep purses

Deep purses pay, economics
"Profits Matter", rule of the day
No lives were lost, only money
Has America forgotten?

Dragons still below and within**

Knots, not love ~~

Tied in Knots

I'm tied up in knots
Don't know what to do
My heart knows its wants
But I don't know what

Lord, loosen the knots
Can't go on no more
My body's heaving
Sobbing since we split

Now I have these knots
Since I left that night
"Me or you, one goes"
Knots around my gut

And in my gut knots
Knots won't go away
I'm tied up in knots
Don't know what to do

You can't help my knots
You're pain worse than they
So I'll stay away
Not love anymore

Ugh, ugh ~~ a 'Mind the Sign' poem

Source Unknown

Sign says

Sign says don't do that, but
do they really mean 'that'

Will exceptions be made
Money, power, boldness

Those blessing will far
Don't be afraid to ask

A dollar or a pound
Opens doors, goes places

If for art or for hire
Makes a difference sure

Take your chances today
'Morrow I might say no

Today I'm on the take
Another day means "no"

War ~~ Wave your flag wildly ~~ a 55 Plus Poem

I'm not into war
I don't read about wars
I don't watch war movies
I don't like to talk about war

Why should I write about wars
I will tell you what I have to say
I am thankful for those who fought
They fought for your and my freedoms

Five Army years I spent
